Police said Manoharan of Otteri, a goldsmith had complained to the police that he lost silver weighing over 11 kg from his lathe. During the vehicle check at Elephant Gate, police found silver being stashed in gunny bags, and questioning established that it was stolen. The three arrested from auto were Velmurugan (19), Selvakumar (22), Shankar (27) and Jagan (27). Whether they had stolen the silver or were transporting the stolen goods is being probed, Otteri police said. Further investigation is on. MGR Nagar police arrested Kamaraj (38) of K K Nagar on charges of threatening a lawyer.
